Building Tips

  • Selecting your wood

    Make sure lumber is as dry as possible. Wet wood swells and may swell too much to be able to insert into bracket.

    We highly recommend taking a bracket with you to the store to test fit all lumber. Saturated timber will expand and make fitting difficult.

    If you are order our rough-cut 6 Wall and Base mount base. Please note this component is specifically fabricated for custom mill work applications as the fit is slightly different from our standard 6 inch Wall and Base that uses standard pressure treated lumber.

  • Nuts, bolts and assembly

    We recommend using Grade A nuts and bolts.

  • Staining, sealing and painting your lumber.

    We recommend pre-staining, sealing and or painting your pressure treated wood prior to assemble. This will help to extend the life of your structure and keep it looking new. Raw pressure treated lumber will gray in color over time.
